  • How do I get to the island?
You can reach the island by ferry, helicopter, or a private boat/plane charter. We recommend taking the ferry from Long Beach, San Pedro, or Dana Point! Important note: the ferries always leave on time, so give yourself ample time to park and board. If you are flying in for the wedding: - LGB is 15-30 mins from the Long Beach ferry terminal - SNA and LAX are 30 mins-1 hour from the Long Beach ferry terminal Please note that you’ll need to book your own travel arrangements. For more details, visit Travel and Stay.
  • I get sea sick - help!
For those prone to seasickness, we recommend taking Dramamine an hour before departure (or Zofran, a prescription option we love). If you’re sensitive, the best place to sit on the ferry is on the lower deck, toward the back and center of the boat, as it tends to be more stable. Sitting near a window and focusing on the horizon can also help. The boat ride itself is about an hour. For extra comfort, guests can upgrade to the Commodore Lounge, which includes reclining seats and in-seat service for a more luxurious experience. Alternatively, the helicopter ride offers a true VIP experience and only takes 14 minutes!
  • Can I bring my car? Where do I park?
There's a giant paid parking lot at the ferry terminal. Since no cars are permitted on the island, you’ll find everything within walking distance. For more details on getting around the island, check out the Travel and Stay page.
  • Once I'm on the island, how do I get around?
Once you’re on the island, Avalon is completely walkable. For added convenience, there are taxis, golf cart rentals, and public transit available. There’s a taxi stand right where the ferry docks, but if you’re up for it, it’s just a quick walk into town! See the Travel and Stay page for more details.
  • I have limited mobility. What are my options?
For those with limited mobility, Avalon offers several convenient options, including taxis, golf cart rentals, and public transit. Most roads and sidewalks are paved and flat, making the area very walkable. Many hotels and some house rentals are ADA accessible as well. For extra comfort on the ferry, we recommend the Commodore Lounge, which features reclining seats and in-seat service. See the Travel and Stay page for more details.
  • Where should I stay?
All of our wedding events will be in Avalon, so we recommend staying there. There is no room block, but we do have a discount code for 10% off at the Hotel Atwater! We recommend booking as soon as possible to lock in lower prices. We opted not to do a room block since there's a big variety of options and price points available on the island. For the most affordable option, consider renting a house through the Catalina Island Vacation Rental Company, or booking a room at one of these four hotels: - Hermosa Hotel - Glenmore Plaza Hotel - El Terado Terrace Mini Suites - Seacrest Inn Please note that the Hamilton Cove condos for rent are not walking distance to our wedding activities, although most places there come with a golf cart. See the Travel and Stay page for more details.
  • How do I RSVP?
RSVPs will only be accepted through this website. The RSVP option will become available once invitations have been sent out!
  • When do I RSVP by?
The RSVP deadline will be provided when invites are sent.
  • Can we bring whoever we want?
While we’d love to celebrate with everyone, we’re keeping our guest list limited to those closest to us. We kindly ask that only the individuals listed on the invitation join us for the celebration. Thank you for your understanding!
  • Can I bring my kids?
We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration—except for the children who are part of our wedding party. Thank you for your understanding!
  • I can't stay the full weekend. What are my options?
The wedding is on Sunday, October 5th, starting around 4pm (schedule to come). Ferries run throughout the day, so you can take an earlier one to enjoy Avalon before the celebration. Please arrange accommodations for the night of October 5th as there are no late night ferry trips.
  • What should we pack?
Plan to pack for a beach weekend getaway! Here are some items we find to be easily forgettable: • Sea sickness pills (if you’re prone to motion sickness on the ferry) • Sunscreen • Beach towel • Jacket or sweater (evenings can be chilly) • Comfortable walking shoes & sandals for the beach • Water activity gear (snorkels/goggles, fishing rods, etc) • Golf equipment (if you'd like to take advantage of the golf course!)
  • What is the dress code for the night-before Welcome Party and Wedding?
Welcome Party: Casual Attire Wedding: Cocktail Attire These two events won't take place on sand, so no need to worry about beach-friendly shoes!
  • Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The wedding will be mostly indoors, with the option to take advantage of outdoor terraces during cocktail hour and the reception.
  • What can I expect for the weather?
During this weekend in October, the average weather is a high of 74°F and a low of 59°F. It’s California, so the weather will likely be beautiful, but it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the forecast and pack accordingly. If you forget anything, there are plenty of shops on the island for last-minute needs.
